Using all the wrong stuff.

A house with a shingle roof.

We have seen cases where repairs were done to a roof using substitute materials to save money, but failed badly. For example, a home owner used a tube of roof caulk to fill cracked shingles, rather than replacing them. This type of quick fix will last for a little while, but is not durable enough to keep the rain water out for long. Waterproofing a roof has to be done right, there are no shortcuts.
